Rules & Regulations

We are now following the USASF level rules and divisions.
Please go to the USASF website to see specific rules and guidelines.



Eligibility of Participants
:
(Open Division participants excluded)
Any team or participant proven to be in violation of the age/ grade requirements for any KSOCDC competition will be automatically disqualified from the competition.

Each Competitor must:

• be officially involved in an accredited school
• not have recieved a diploma for graduation for the 12th grade.
• be actively and regularly participating in school.
• be currently receiving credit for schoolwork at the time of the competition.
• not be over the age of 19
(unless registered in the Open All Star Division)

Competition Area:

The cheer competition floor will be a 56' x 44' spring floor or 56 x 44' foam floor for middle and high schools..
The Dance competition floor will be 55' x 42' marley floor
Music:
• One representative must run the music and must remain at the sound table throughout the entire performance.
• Please bring two quality High Bias recorded cassette tapes or CDs.
• All cassettes and CDs must be marked with the team name and division.
• Make sure tapes are cued before arriving at the sound table.
• Review the content of the music for any inappropriate language or sounds.
• Music of poor quality may detract from your performance and affect scoring.
• We will not stop the competition for you to get a backup. Always bring several backups!

Interruption of Performance:
If interruption occurs during routine performance due to tournament equipment, facilities, etc., participants will be permitted to restart the routine from the beginning or at the point of interruption. If interruption occurs during routine performance due to your equipment (cassette, CD, etc.) or if an injury occurs, participants may either continue or withdraw from competition. Competition officials reserve the right to stop a performance due to injury.

Choreography:
All choreography should be suitable for family viewing and always in good taste. Point deductions will be assessed for any profanity, inappropriate movements and displays of arrogance. All routine performances should showcase athletic talent with an emphasis on teamwork and spirit.

Sportsmanship:
The KSOCDC believes sportsmanship at any of our events is of the utmost importance. Because of this belief, KSOCDC will assess a 25-point penalty per infraction to any team whose coaches, team members, parents, or fans display any acts of unsportsmanlike behavior during competition. Unsportsmanlike conduct will include but is not limited to: approaching the competition judges or any competition official with inappropriate comments, outbursts or gestures. Please Note: Competition officials are not to be approached by any coach, parent, competitor or other supporter for 48 hours after the completion of the competition. A penalty will be assessed if competition officials are approached within the 48 hour period. All decisions regarding ties, deductions and penalties are at the sole discretion of the judges. All judges' decisions are final and not subject to rebuttal.

Spotting:
Spotters will not be provided by the competition.

Warm-Up Area:

There will be a general tumbling/practice floor as well as a timed warm-up floor. Teams will have 5 minutes on the timed floor prior to competing. Individuals, stunt groups and partner stunt groups will be allotted 3 minutes. Teams must provide their own spotters on the timed floor. In this area there will be equipment to run both tapes and cds.

Order of Competition:
Competitors will compete in reverse order of registration. In other words, the competitors who get their paid registrations in earliest will compete last in their division.


Jewelry:
No jewelry of any kind (earrings, bracelets, necklaces, body jewelry) is allowed to be worn during the competition. Medical alert jewelry is allowed but should be removed from the wrist or neck and should be fastened to the body with tape.

All rule interpretations should be submitted on a VHS videotape or CD Rom and contain the following:

1) A front, side & back view of the rule in question.
2) A letter stating the request
3) School/ Team name & Division
4) Coach's name, address, phone number & email
